COVID-19 has brought about a new epidemic in the US: PTSD and other pandemic-related mental illnesses.
Over one year into the COVID-19 pandemic, it is clear that the public health crisis has severely and adversely affected many people’s mental health across the world. In late July 2020, nearly 40% of American adults reported struggling with mental health or substance use.
Few can say they’ve not felt the impact of COVID-19 on their mental state. According to KFF, 54% of adults in the US surveyed say the pandemic has had a negative influence on their mental health. The impact on children may be even more significant. A recently study published by the National Institutes of Health reports, “Posttraumatic, anxiety, and depression disorders are expected during and aftermath of the pandemic.
